A year that was eventful for our family. My brother stopped in the family business and it is the year my Dad suddenly died. With my Dads passing, I also lost my mentor. My Dad taught me about blending tobacco and the role of the different types of tobacco in it. Over the years, my Dad sent me to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Cuba.

This he did to leant and teach me. ‘You must smell, feel and taste,’ my Dad said ‘otherwise you will never understand.’ As always, the old man was right. My mother (Wil) always thought my father smoked too many cigars, he was a real aficionado. If my mother said something about it, he always replied: ‘Yes, but Wil, I have to taste, don’t I?’ That always made me laugh. My Dad was also developing his own blend for a cigar. He wanted to make a cigar for the starting cigar smoker so they could taste different flavors through the different wrappers in one cigar. The Tricolor cigar. Here’s another flavor statement to come!
