It is 1997 when my Mom starts her shop in a small town near Eindhoven. I am 10 years old at the time. It was a cosy shop, a central place in town. My Mom sold cigarettes, Dutch cigars other convenience products. The shop was a success and after a few years, my Dad decided to join my Mom. In those days, cigars of Dutch and Belgian origin were favourites. Premium cigars were not that fashionable under Dutch cigar smokers.

My Dad always considered that it was important to be able to sell the best Dutch brands. I still remember my dad was keen to sell cigars from the exclusive Hajenius brand. He put a lot of effort into this and eventually he succeeded. Cuban and Dominican cigars entered the Dutch market. A reason for my parents to include these premium cigars in their assortment as well. The humidor cabinets, which were in the shop, were now replaced by a walk-in humidor that my dad did built himself.
The Kelch 1997 is a medium-heavy cigar and with slightly spicy edge.
